Promote Your Certification

  1. Send a press release to your local newspaper, institutional communications department, state medical society, or local organizations where you are a member (Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, etc). Use the sample press release to create your own personalized release.
  2. Send a professional card or letter to your referral sources announcing your certification.
  3. Develop an advertisement for your practice that lists your board certification and explains how your certification improves your ability to provide quality patient care.*
  4. Display your ABEM certificate prominently in your office.
  5. Include the statement “Board-Certified by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine” on your professional stationery, business cards, and website.*

* CA members need to be aware that the CA law does not allow physicians to say ABEM Board Certified in advertising. The law does not, however, prohibit the use of ABEM Diplomate, Approved by ABEM, or any other term that is subject to interpretation by prospective patients. CA physicians may be able to state “Participant in the ABEM Maintenance of Certification Program.” This language has not been tested.
