Preparation tip:

"The EDX Self-Assessment Exam (SAE) helped me become familiar with the contents and format of the ABEM examination – especially the video part. A great study tool."

Continuous Certification

The ABEM encourages Diplomates to continue to assimilate new knowledge and techniques and develop their clinical skills with the Continuous Certification Program (formerly MOCP).  Beginning in January of 2021, ABEM moved to a longitudinal assessment program, thus you will see the words Continuous Certification referenced when referring to the new requirements. The Continuous Certification program sets high standards for quality medical care and professional accountability.  Lifetime certificate holders do not need to participate in Continuous Certification.

Continuous Certification Requirements:

  • Attest that you possess an active, unrestricted license to practice medicine
  • Attest that you possess an active primary board certification in neurology or physical medicine and rehabilitation
  • 150 CME recorded within your 10-year cycle
  • Complete and pass annual online questions (CoreCom)
    • Online questions will be available annually starting in January.
    • Access to online questions is provided upon payment of the annual $99 administrative fee

Please visit the Changes to the MOCP Program page for further details.
